SLIP (Sex, Law, Internet and Pornography)

What is SLIP?

SLIP is a programme for young people to learn about sex and the laws surrounding the internet and pornography..

· It’s fun and Interactive

· You don’t have to be good at reading or writing

· Learn about online sex and relationships

· Learn from the experts!

SLIP stands for “Sex, the law, internet and pornography”. It is designed to reach young offenders and young people at risk of offending. We know that many young people who offend are not able to attend formal sexual health and relationship education for a number of reasons. We hope that through SLIP, we can address this need in a fun and accessible way and give young people the facts they need to make positive choices.

The six workshops are roughly each one hour long and designed for 10-15 people. Although the Law is at the forefront through the programme, the topics covered are modern and relevant to the young people. The sessions are designed to be accessible to those with a lower level of literacy and numeracy and are very interactive. SLIP can be delivered flexibly over one to six weeks in a variety of venues.

There are no tests in SLIP; learning is assessed throughout the programme through observation and learner evaluation. The programme builds knowledge gradually and places the learner at the centre of the lessons to provide a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

By the end of the programme, learners will have developed tools to talk about and enjoy healthy and legal sex and relationships.

The six sessions include;

  • Introduction
  • ‘Am I Normal?’
  • Consent
  • Abuse & Exploitation
  • Online Safety & Exploitation
  • Pornography & Sexting
