Fund the global fight against HIV

DHIVERSE has joined with other UK based NGOs to call on Gordon Brown to honour commitments to fund the fight against HIV, Malaria and TB on the eve of the Global Fund replenishment conference. This is key to achieving the promise of universal access to treatment, care and support by 2010.

At the G8 summit in June at which DHIVERSE campaigners joined thousands of others in lobbying for change - the world's leaders pledged to increase treble the size of the Global Fund to reach $8bn by 2010.

If this is to be achieved the UK needs to demonstrate leadership, and to commit to at least maintaining our share of the increased contributions.

This represents the first test of the resolve of the new Gordon Brown government to keep to the promises on fighting HIV and AIDS.

DHIVERSE is a member of the Stop AIDS Campaign, the campaigning arm of the UK Consortium on AIDS and International Development - a coalition of more than 80 NGOs and trade unions.
