Whatever it is that you want to do, why ever you want to do it, there is something for you at DHIVERSE.

People volunteer for many reasons. Be it to make a difference, to meet new friends or to gain experience to put on their CV.

DHIVERSE will welcome you. Currently around sixty people volunteer for DHIVERSE, from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. Within the organisation volunteers outnumber staff six to one, and the Board of Trustees (and Directors of the Limited Company) is entirely made up of volunteers and service users. Thus DHIVERSE is a truly volunteer-led organisation. Volunteers are essential to the ability of DHIVERSE to make the difference in the fight against HIV and AIDS.

Every volunteer who comes to DHIVERSE will have their own assignment or in some cases assignments; this is based on what you would like to do for the organisation. Some people volunteer for several years, others are only with us for a short time, for example maybe just for one event. The assignment gives you the chance to shape what you would like to do, around the skills that you have and the time you can spare.

Volunteers receive support from our Volunteer Co-ordinator including the opportunity for regular meetings to review their role, and identify new areas of work they wish to be involved in. All volunteers at DHIVERSE are reimbursed their business expenses in the same way as the staff, as we believe that no one should be out of pocket as a result of volunteering, and that no one should be unable to volunteer due to cost.

For further information about volunteering or to request an application pack please contact Grant Chambers, the Volunteer Co-ordinator, on 01223 508805 or .

What some of our volunteers have said..

"22 million people in the UK volunteer. Could you be one? Volunteering is a great way to meet new friends and learn new skills. I chose DHIVERSE to make a difference in the fight against HIV. Volunteering really gives me a buzz."

(Sarah, 19)

"When I finish my degree I plan to go and work in the city, 75% of FTSE 100 employers favour candidates with volunteering experience. What is more I have had the opportunity to attend a media course through DHIVERSE, and have the satisfaction of knowing that what I am doing is really worthwhile."

(Sam, 24)

"After taking early retirement I was looking for a charity to volunteer for. After many years of working I was now in a position to give something back. DHIVERSE was ideal offering me both flexibility and a challenge."

(Mike, 53)
