There are many ways to raise funds and awareness and most of them are fun too! We have got some ideas here, on our fundraising and on our sponsored events pages, but there are many more: your imagination is the limit!
Schools play a very important part in fundraising for charities, it is estimated they raise over £200 million a year! HIV and sexual health is a very real issue for young people in the UK today, and fundraising events can provide a great opportunity to raise awareness as well.
Whatever you do, remember to make it fun and to send us a photo! To request a fundraising pack for your school or college please , or telephone 01223 508805.
< Top of pageThese are good to raise awareness of HIV and AIDS and for your event, we can arrange for a speaker to come in from DHIVERSE.
< Top of pageTry drawing the outline of a giant red ribbon in the playground and filling it with coins.
< Top of pageForm a human red ribbon and have a balloon release, we have included some balloons and red ribbons in our fundraising pack but can supply you with more if you need them. This is a good way to raise awareness.
< Top of pageStudents and staff pay an amount (eg one pound) to wear their own clothes (or maybe fancy dress?) for the day. This could be on World AIDS Day, or on the day you have your assembly talk so people are aware what it is for. You can also have a Wear Something Red day for World AIDS Day!
< Top of pageUse your culinary skills to bake cakes and treats, maybe use a red theme or decorate them with red ribbons. Always a good way to raise money and tasty too!
< Top of pageAuction willing students and staff, who will give up part of the day to do a task for the highest bidder.
< Top of pageOrganise a competition between members of staff and pupils (maybe basketball, netball, football etc.) and charge a fee for people to watch.
< Top of pageWork out a safe scenic route and arrange a sponsored bike ride. See our sponsored events page.
< Top of pageTo raise awareness around World AIDS Day, organise art classes with a World AIDS Day theme. These could then be displayed on World AIDS Day. You could ask the senior years to produce posters to educate younger pupils about ways to avoid catching HIV.
< Top of pageFill a clear jar with favourite sweets. Charge friends 50p to guess how many there are. The winner gets the jar.
< Top of pageYou could hold a concert for HIV and AIDS, parents could be asked to pay a small admission to cover your costs and a donation to DHIVERSE.
